About AeroDistance
AeroDistance is a free, high-precision aviation flight distance calculator designed for travelers, aviation enthusiasts, pilots, and researchers worldwide.
Our Calculation Methodology
Unlike straight-line Euclidean distance on a flat map, airplanes travel along the spherical curvature of the Earth. AeroDistance uses the mathematical Haversine Formula to compute exact Great Circle distances between airport GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude).
a = sin²(Δφ/2) + cos(φ1) ⋅ cos(φ2) ⋅ sin²(Δλ/2)
c = 2 ⋅ atan2( √a, √(1−a) )
d = R ⋅ c (where R = 6,371.0088 km)
c = 2 ⋅ atan2( √a, √(1−a) )
d = R ⋅ c (where R = 6,371.0088 km)
Global Airport Coverage
Our dataset covers major international hub airports across North America, South America, Europe, Asia, Africa, and Oceania with verified IATA and ICAO codes.
Environmental Carbon Tracking
We provide carbon footprint estimations per passenger (average ~90g CO₂/km) based on standard commercial jet passenger density guidelines.
